Licensing

Thank you for your interest in the University of Miami's WalkSafeTM  program. As you may know, the purpose of the program is to improve pediatric pedestrian safety, increase physical activity levels through encouraging children to walk to and from school, and improve the walkability in and around elementary schools. WalkSafe, a multi-agency program, was developed and implemented in 2002 at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine and Ryder Trauma Center/Jackson Memorial Hospital. The WalkSafeTM program pioneered the 5-E Model involving: education, engineering, enforcement, evaluation, and encouragement.

The program offers a number of its trademarked and copyrighted materials to organizations and entities interested in promoting pedestrian safety and health. We provide our materials at no cost or minimal cost in order to encourage affordable usage of the program. Miami-Dade County public schools and other schools encompassed in the statewide grant that are supervised by the WalkSafeTM office do not incur any costs, nor do they require permission to use WalkSafeTM materials.

Please note that the University's trademarks and copyrighted materials can only be used with our permission and with certain licensing conditions in order to maintain their strength and quality control.

If you are interested in using or purchasing the University's trademarked and copyrighted materials, please contact us at:
